On Saturday, Dad and I took the boys up to the Uintahs to get firewood. It was a great experience for all of us to do some "male bonding" while we worked ourselves to exhaustion. Sometimes I really wonder if it's worth all the work just to not turn the heater on in the winter.

Tyler's job was to pick up the sticks and throw them on the slash pile.

Nick's job was....well, he did mark the logs to be cut and helped with the slash piles.

Our job was to fell, trim, cut, and load the logs onto the truck.

Tyler did try to help move the logs. It didn't work very well, but at least he looked manly trying.
Yeah, it's not really worth the work, but it's definately worth all the memories. Getting firewood with dad are some of my favorite childhood memories. Getting up early, eating donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast on the way, the smell of the wood and dirt...that's what growing up is all about!
