Backsplash
I know it's been a while since I've had a chance to update this blog. The past several weeks seem like a whirlwind. I finished the tile backsplash in the kitchen, did a side job, did some landscaping, had Gabe's blessing, and finished the basement, all on top of the normal busy schedule I have. I will try to put some pictures of everything on here in the next couple of days. I've at least put some pictures of the changes I made in the kitchen for now.
Here's the "before" again.
And the "after" with the backsplash. We are extremely happy with the changes!

The particular tile we chose was a tumbled marble. Unfortunately for me, it consisted of 2x2, 2x4, and 4x4 squares. Not only were they a pain to install, they are naturally pourous. That natural look is beautiful, but it also means that in order not to fill all those holes with grout, I had to use a grout bag (much like a larger, much heavier version of a cake decorating bag) and go around every single tile, careful not to touch the inside or top of the tile. Then I had to go back over every grout line and smooth it all out without getting any of the excess grout into the holes. Fun, huh? Needless to say, I'm sure glad that's over with.
